1. I really admire the artwork of Bansky because it is rebellious and puts out his message on big issues. For the most part I agree with them although I don't quite understand all of them. I can tell he is making statements about political decisions and things he is against like the wall dividing Israel and Palestine.
2. I think graffiti is art. It is a learned skill with which people can express themselves. It's complex pop arty paintings, they're just not located on paper. I also think tagging a building is sort of art. It's not art if someone is just writing their name on to mark their "turf," but if it is something like what Banksy does then it is art. I think they use alternate names to help create a persona that is different from who they really are, to aid in the messages they try to get across. In Banksy's case it could also be to avoid legal trouble.
3. If you have a strong message to get across to the public that you feel is very important to get across and you don't have any other means of getting it across then you should do it, otherwise I would tend to stay away from marking public property.
